In 2023, the Coyotes are looking to add on to their successful core of catchers. The group is led by returners Caleb Lumbard, Travis Butler and Rylan Gabruck.

Last season Lumbard put up a slash line of .247/.388/.730, had 20 RBI and tallied 13 defensive assists from behind the plate, which earned him Second Team All Conference honors. Butler posted a .406 OBP in nine games and looks to add to those numbers in this upcoming season. Gabruck only had ten plate appearances last year, but is looking forward to competing for his team this season.

Sophomore catcher Alex Foster and Freshman catchers Nicholas Sauvé, Jackson Hodgson and Kayden Hudson round out the catching group and will compete for innings. Foster, from Calgary, Alberta, shows promise with an elite arm from behind the dish. Sauvé, also from Calgary, has a plus bat and demonstrates great baseball instincts. Hodgson, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, proved himself with a strong bat, able to hit for power to all fields. Hudson, from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, has shown lots of growth and continues to work hard on all his catching skills.

As the season progresses, the Coyotes will look to depend on their experienced catchers to make a big impact on both sides of the ball, and continue to work with their impressive group of young catchers to develop into potential pieces for next year.   

The Coyotes pitching staff led the CCBC in nearly every category in 2022. The Coyotes set the single season record in Strikeouts with 301, only walked 90 batters and had a 3.05 ERA. In order to repeat their 2022 success the staff will need to rely on all available arms. After losing several big arms due to graduation, the 2023 Coyotes starting rotation will look much different. The Coyotes pride themselves on the depth they have at all positions especially on the mound. A mixture of returners and freshman will look to dominate for the Coyotes in 2023.

Junior Gavin Wuschke had a strong 2022 season appearing in 9.2 innings with 15 strikeouts out of the bullpen. He will be given a large role and is expected to be a leader on the staff. The Regina product is ready for big year after displaying a fastball that can run up to 91mph.

Junior Cory Lawson comes into the 2023 season as the reigning CCBC Reliever of
The Year. In 18.1 innings, Lawson added 23 strikeouts and a 0.49 era. Lawson will look to build off a very successful 2022 season and help pave the way for the Coyotes in 2023.

Sophomore Koal Erixon is another arm that the Coyotes will lean on to play a big role
for the squad. Erixon appeared in 6 games throwing 14.1 innings with 15 strikeouts and just 3 walks. Erixon is a hard worker both on and off the field, with the ability to compete in any situation he is thrown into.

Senior Sean Dunn is a versatile arm for the Coyotes who has appeared in the bullpen as well as being used as a starter in his career. His ability to pitch in any situation will truly be an asset for the Coyotes.

Looking to play a large role and throw important innings for the team is Zander Oudie-Senger. Oudie-Senger attacks hitters and has the ability to command all pitches, along with a strong fastball. Teagan Ribbink has made great strides on the mound with the potential to be a top arm for the Coyotes in 2023.

The Coyotes will enjoy the brother duo of Maris and Easton Brons. The Saskatoon
natives are both absolute competitors on the mound, ready to attack hitters at the plate. Maris enters his 3rd season as a member of the Coyotes, while, Easton looks forward to beginning his freshman season.

The Coyotes pitching staff includes several two-way players. These players are the
complete package and offer the ability help both on the mound and at the plate. Matthew Jennings enters his freshman season and will look to continue to produce on both sides of the ball. Ryan Powers is a young two-way who has shown great growth and will look to prove himself in the 2023 season. Freshman Ryder Roberts has shown his ability to get hitters out in his short time as a Coyote, the 2023 season will be a great opportunity for Roberts to continue working on his craft. Brady Robin has kept hitters guessing, in his freshman season. Robin has shown the ability to throw strikes and get hitters out. Lyndon Sinclair is a local product who has thrown well early in his Coyotes career. Lyndon has the ability to blow past hitters with a plus fastball. Entering his second season Ethan Skiffington enjoyed some success at the varsity level in 2022. Skiffington will look to build off of last year be a key contributor for the team this
spring. Anthony Wyslobocki played a key part on the offensive side of the ball in 2022, this season he will be looked upon to throw quality innings and shut down opposing hitters.

Entering the 2023 season the Coyotes have several young arms that will undoubtedly
be the key to success for years to come. Mason Fichter is a young arm who has continued to improve and has shown his ability to get hitters out. Corbin Mossop is another freshman who has flashed some great stuff during his first year as a Coyote. Mossop will look to translate a strong winter into a positive result on the mound this spring.

Cementing the 2023 pitching staff will be this years senior class Brennen Flodin, gives a
unique look to hitters on the mound with his ability to change arm slots. He will continue to be an important arm for the Coyotes. Brett Melanson will look to play a pivotal role for the team this year coming out of the bullpen. Melanson will look to lock things down on the mound. Jack Suhai is a workhorse who demands the most from himself and his teammates. Suhai will look to continue his success out of the bullpen. Noah Zenkewich is another arm that will look for a bigger role. Zenkewich has demonstrated great pitches and always gives hitters a tough at bat. Connor Robbins is a crafty lefty who pounds the strict zone. His ability to throw any pitch in all counts makes him very effective. Mason Chamberlain is a guy that fills the zone. Chamberlain does a great job keeping hitters off-balance and mixing all pitches.

It is definitely safe to say that the Coyotes are in good hands on the mound. They will look to continue their success and achieve the goal of a 2023 CCBC Championship

The Yotes 2023 infield will feature some familiar faces with elevated roles this season.

Senior Mike Duwyn will again play a crucial role in the Yotes infield. Duwyn batted .364 and scored 15 runs in the regular season. Duwyn has the versatility to play multiple infield positions and we will see it on display this season.

Junior Conrad Timmerman will look to take a big step and man shortstop this upcoming season after appearing in 12 games, batting .333 and registering 11 stolen bases. Nolan Rivard will try and build off a strong 2022 season where he hit .277 with 25 runs scored and blasted one home run. Rivard logged the most innings on the team at third base last season. Nolan Klein is another infielder that will be spotted at multiple positions this year. The senior looks to have another solid year where he will mix in this strong infield. Senior Adam Sarafinchin is going to fight to get in the lineup card too. After suffering an injury early in the 2022 season that limited his appearances, Sarafinchin will look to stay healthy and help the Yotes repeat. Sophomore Connor Richards will fight for playing time after playing 12 games his Freshman season last year

Freshman Marcus Andrews will find his way on the infield this year. From Saskatoon, Marcus’s plus speed, strong defense, along with a solid bat, Andrews will make a push to get in the lineup as a Freshman.

First base will be battled out by Junior Justin Misfeldt, Sophomore Aiden Wensman, Freshman Daniel Kovacevic and Freshman Tyson Cherwoniak. None have experience at the varsity level, each is looking to prove their skills this upcoming season. Junior Kai Hoek, from Pickering Ontario, Sophomore Ryan Bratt from Calgary Alberta, and Freshman Joe Stawarz from Regina Saskatchewan will all be battling for innings. All three have the ability to play anywhere on the infield and will fight for the opportunity to get in the lineup.

Two-way infielders this season are Lyndon Sinclair, Brady Robin, Matt Jennings, and Easton Brons. All four are Freshman and all four will fight to get innings in the field as well as innings on the mound.

As the 2023 season rolls along, the Yotes will rely on their deep and versatile infield depth to help repeat as both a strong offense and defensive unit in pursuit of a 2023 Championship.

The 2023 Canadian College Baseball Conference season is fast approaching. The Coyotes have been hard at work preparing to defend their Canadian College World Series Championship and hope to go back to back in 2023. Over the course of the next couple weeks we will be highlighting the core groups of the Coyotes 2023 team.

The program’s outfield has lots of depth and looks to repeat the offensive tear they were on last year. Returning senior Nolan King looks to repeat his 1st team all conference season, where he placed big numbers hitting .379 with 8 extra base hits and 22 rbi’s.

Ryan Dousett is poised to replicate his successful 2022 campaign in which he hit .363 with 15 rbi’s, 30 runs, and 13 stolen bases, which also resulted in a 1st team all conference selection. Both are expected to lead the charge and cause problems for opposing teams. Sophomore Adrian Orioli is hoping to build off of last season which was cut short due to an injury. Another sophomore Ethan Skiffington is looking forward to putting up solid numbers after a positive freshman season where he slashed a .269 average and powered one home run in his 28 at bats last season. Junior Anthony Wyslobocki will be splitting time between the mound and outfield, spotting a solid offensive showing where he hit .333 with three extra base hits in 18 at bats.

Returning Junior Matthew Boychuk is hoping to get back into action after unfortunately missing the entirety of the last season due to injury. Sophomore Callum McKay is looking to battle for a spot in the outfield as he spent his last season at the Junior Varsity level. Logan Keating, a sophomore transfer from Three Rivers College Missouri is a quick footed outfielder able to cause havoc on the basepath and track down balls in the gaps. Freshman Ryan Powers coming from Beausejour, Manitoba is going to find himself in the outfield when he isn’t on the mound. Mattias Quist, a Freshman from West Kelowna, BC led the team in the fall with two home runs. Another Freshman, Tate Olson is a solid defensive player, who comes from Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan. Each of the newcomers will be looking to prove something, and fight for playing time. Another two-way player looking to see time between the mound and the outfield is Freshman Ryder Roberts from Sherwood Parks Alberta. 

The outfield roster for Okanagan College is solid, leaving no room for error. Each will have to compete for the three slots in the outfield and the ones that do will be a key, integral part in the success for the Coyotes upcoming 2023 season.

Camp 1: 9 & Up. Full day camp which runs from 8:30am-2:30pm each day. Cost $300/week.

Camp 2: 7 & 8 year old’s. This camp will be a half day camp going from 8:30am-11:30am each day. Cost $200/week.

The Yotes have been voted the #1 team heading into the CCBC season for the 2nd consecutive year! Let’s hope history repeats itself!

The weather has turned, but that hasn’t stopped the Coyotes from preparing for the 2023 season. The offseason programming has begun and it won’t be long before the fields are clear and season begins.

The Coyotes are coming off a fantastic fall. The group had a busy schedule that included a trip to California and Nevada where the team played five NCAA Division 1 programs. Sacramento State University, University of Pacific, University of California-Berkeley, University of San Francisco, and the University of Nevada-Reno were the five stops.

“It was a tremendous experience for our players,” says Head Coach Geoff White. “To get an opportunity to compete at the highest level of college baseball was exciting for our group.” The Coyotes had a chance to play in some historic fields, face some very highly regarded MLB draft prospects, and get a private tour of Oracle Field, home of the San Francisco Giants.

“It has always been a major goal of our program to provide experiences that will last a lifetime, this was one of those trips that players can look back on and appreciate,” adds White.

The Coyotes now shift focus to the offseason which will take place from November thru to March.

“We are very happy with our group of players, the starting point we were at September 1 was encouraging and where we ended up at the end of October was even better. There is always lots of room for growth as individuals and the team, but we will be working diligently to be prepared for the CCBC conference season at the end of March, we are definitely not content on where we finished the fall.” says White.

Some notable returnees for the Coyotes for the 2023 season are right handed Pitchers, Gavin Wuschke, Koal Erickson and Corey Lawson. Lawson is coming off the 2022 campaign being named “Reliever of the Year” after posting a 0.49 ERA.

“These three we expect will be relied up this coming season to lead the pitching staff which has been a big part of our success.” adds White.

At the plate, returning senior catcher Caleb Lumbard will anchor a solid defensive line up that will have a different look than the 2022 Championship team. At the top of the order Nolan Rivard and Ryan Dousett will be looked upon to jumpstart the offence.

“We have a nice blend of older upper class-men and younger freshman sophomores that have showed at times in the fall of what we are capable of. It will be exciting as a group on what we can accomplish in 2023.” finishes White.

The Canadian College Baseball Conference will be announcing their 2023 schedule before the new year, with the Canadian College World Series announced for Lethbridge, Alberta over the May 18-22 at Spitz Stadium. The last time the Coyotes were there they celebrated another National Championship, sweeping the tournament 4-0 with a 5-0 Championship game win. The Okanagan College will be back on the field starting Labour Day Monday.  Coming off their 2022 National Championship at the Canadian College World Series in May the Coyotes are poised to continue their winning ways.  The Coyotes have won 3 of the last 4 championships, with 2020 being missed due to COVID.

“2022 was a special group, but now we are looking forward to the incoming group.” Says Head Coach Geoff White.  “With a new year brings new challenges, new players, and new opportunity for players.”

2022 the Coyotes finished with an overall record of 39-8,  25-5 in conference and sweeping the Canadian College World Series with 4 straight wins.  The team set records in many departments including wins, team batting average (.313), team E.R.A (3.05) and many more.   

The Coyotes were also recognized in post season Canadian College Baseball Conference awards with multiple awards.  Jayden Clayton (North Vancouver, BC, Senior, RHP) was named Pitcher of the Year.   Cory Lawson (Calgary, AB, Freshman, RHP) was named Reliever of the Year.  Chris Wyslobocki (Etobicoke, ON, Senior, RHP) was named Senior of the Year.  Brendan Luther (Toronto, ON, Senior, INF) was named Co-MVP of the Conference after hitting .426 on the season.  Named to the 1^st team all-conference were OC Coyotes, Jayden Clayton, Chris Wyslobocki, Nolan King, Ryan Dousett, Brendan Luther, McCoy Pearce.  Caleb Lumbard was voted a member of the 2^nd team All-Conference.

Looking ahead at this season the Coyotes are looking forward to a new set of challenges in the fall.  The team will head south to the San Francisco/ Bay Area to face five NCAA Division One programs.  The Coyotes will face off against Sacramento State University Hornets, University of Pacific Tigers, University of California-Berkeley Golden Bears,  San Jose State University Spartans, and University of Nevada- Reno Wolfpack.

“We are extremely excited for this opportunity for the Coyotes program,” says White. “We have been working diligently to get this point where we can face the highest level of college baseball.  These are excellent, wining programs in Division One baseball and should be a fantastic experience and challenge for our program.” The Coyotes will come together on Monday September 5^th for their first official workout.  Their first game in the fall exhibition season will take on Friday September 9^th in their annual Red vs Black intersquad.   Full fall schedule is posted at www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca

The Okanagan College Coyotes will take a big step this fall. The Coyotes will head down south to the San Francisco Bay are to play five NCAA Division One programs. Over the Thanksgiving weekend and for 8 days the Coyotes will face some top college baseball programs.

“We are extremely excited as a program for this opportunity,” says Head Coach Geoff White, “we have been working hard for several years to get to this point to go and play the highest level of college baseball.”

The Coyotes will kick the trip off against Western Athletic Conference perennial powerhouse, Sacramento State University Hornets on Monday October 10th. The Coyotes will then head down the road to Stockton, California against the University of Pacific Tigers, member of the West Coast Conference October 11th.

October 12th the team will head a little further west to play PAC 12 and historic University of California-Berekley Golden Bears. October 13th San Jose State Spartans will be the opponent, member of the Mountain West Conference.

The Coyotes will wrap up the Division One schedule on Friday October 14th in Reno, Nevada against the University of Nevada-Reno Wolfpack. The Wolfpack are also a member of the Mountain West Conference.

“We have some excellent programs we will get a chance to compete against,” says White. “We are excited about our 2022-2023 group of returners and freshman, but we have lots of work to do to prepare for these games.”

The trip will wrap up in Ontario, Oregon against the Treasure Valley College Chukars. The Chukars are a member of the NWAC Junior College circuit.
