All 8 teams in the CCBC came to play, but it was the Okanagan College Coyotes who came away with the trophy.

The Coyotes’ weekend started with a close game against the PBA Dawgs that saw OC pull away late with a 7 – 4 victory. In game 2, the Coyotes took it to Edmonton with a 12 -1 win, clinching their spot in the semi-finals. The Coyotes finished their round-robin undefeated with a 4 – 3 win over Vancouver Island University.

The semi-finals on Sunday night saw Pool A’s first seed OC Coyotes playing against Pool B’s second seed Victoria Golden Tide, while pool B’s first seed Fraser Valley Cascade, who also swept their round robin, faced off against PBA Dawgs.

First up was OC vs Victoria. It was a back-and-forth game, but the Coyotes never let up. Again, they pulled away late and took the 11 – 5 win. On the other side, Fraser Valley took down PBA 5 – 3 in a nail-biter setting up the finals Monday morning against the Coyotes.

The final game came down to poise and depth as the Coyotes bats never let up, putting up 12 runs over 9 innings. The pitching staff came up big with a great performance in relief from Maris Brons and some clutch innings from Jesse Poniewozik to shut the door. It was a great team effort, and the Okanagan College Coyotes came away with the CCBC Fall Championship with a final score of 12 – 5

Up next for the Coyotes is the Fall World Series. Follow us on our social media for updates.

Kelowna Fall Invitational Weekend http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2503 http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2503#respond Wed, 29 Sep 2021 22:05:55 +0000 http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2503 It was a great weekend for our program after the success of the Kelowna Fall Invitational Tournament. The weather was fantastic, and we were able to get all 28 games in across all three fields. The competition level was very high, and the Coyotes showed up to play on both sides of the ball.

The Coyotes took the 4 -2 win against North Shore in their first game of the tournament. They followed that up with an 11 -2 win against Chilliwack on Friday and then an 8 – 0 win under the lights against Vauxhall. To finish off the tournament on Saturday, the Coyotes put up 18 on the bucks to finish 4 – 0.

We would like to thank all the teams, players, and coaches who participated in this tournament and to wish them well in the rest of their fall season. Also, a big shout out to the many fans and their support in our fundraiser. Lastly, a big thank you to our sponsors and volunteers for their hard work over a long weekend.

To cap off the weekend, on Sunday, the Coyotes took on TRU in a doubleheader at Elks and kept their winning streak going. They took game one 9 – 3 with an offence led by McCoy Pearce and Conrad Timmerman who hit a big solo blast to put the game out of reach. In game two the Coyotes pitching staff dominated by committee with a 4 – 0 shutout.

Coming up, the Yotes will have games against the Okanagan Athletics, and a double header with Vancouver Island University Mariners. On the weekend, the Coyotes will be playing a double header against Fraser Valley as well as the October Fall Invitational being hosted at Elks Stadium.

Coyotes Baseball is Back http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2500 http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2500#respond Tue, 14 Sep 2021 02:36:35 +0000 http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2500 We Are Back!

The Okanagan Coyotes are back! September 1st marked the beginning of what is shaping up to be an exciting fall season. We have a promising group or players out this year with a good mix of returners and freshman who are eager to get back on the field. After another year cut short, the Coyotes are looking to come out strong with a loaded fall schedule highlighted by the CCBC Fall Championship being hosted here in Kelowna from October 8th – 11th at historical Elks Stadium.

“We’re looking forward to another chance at winning a championship this year and facing quality competition again,” says Aiden Mordecai (RHP, Langley, BC).

Mordecai will be looking to set the tone on the mound this year along with other returners, Adam Sarafinchan (RHP, Kelowna, BC), Chris Wyslobocki (RHP, Etobicoke, ON), and Austin Brown (RHP, Powell River, BC). Brendan Luther (INF, Toronto, ON) and Nolan King (OF, Regina, SK) will be leading our offence with a solid group of returners and freshman right behind them.

Opening day will be Friday September 10th, a double header against Fraser Valley University followed by a four game set against the Okanagan Athletics. Another big weekend for the Coyotes will be the Fall Invitational Tournament taking place September 23rd – 26th in Kelowna against some of the best competition in western Canada.

Additional games throughout the fall include sets against Vancouver Island University, Thompson Rivers University, Langley Blaze, and more against UFV and the Athletics.

Swift Signs for 2021-2022 Season http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2449 http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2449#respond Fri, 13 Nov 2020 03:47:34 +0000 http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2449 -Kelowna, BC, Nov 12, 2020

-Press Release

The Okanagan College Coyotes baseball program is excited to announce the signing of Clark Swift for the 2021-2022 season.  Swift who is currently a member of the Okanagan Athletic U18 Premier team will attend Okanagan College’s business program at the Kelowna campus.

“We are extremely pleased to have Clark join and comm

it to our program,” says Head Coach Geoff White, “He has had a tremendous fall, made significant progress, and has a lot of potential.”

Swift, the 6’2, 180 brings a tremendous amount of athleticism.  He has primarily played in centerfield this past fall, while also logging time on the mound and infield.

“Clark brings a ton of versatility; we like how athletic he is and that he has experience in a variety of positions.” Adds White.

The Mount Boucherie High School is a product of the Okanagan Athletic Premier program, he has progressed through the ranks from the Junior Premier team to now a leader for the Senior program.

“Swift has been around the stadium for a while, there is history with the family along with two younger brothers that are and have gone through our Junior Coyotes program.  All have shown tremendous passion for the game and outstanding work ethic.  We are excited that Clark can be the first of three brothers to possibly go through our Okanagan College Coyotes program,” finishes White.

The Coyotes wrapped up their fall season in late October that saw then mainly intersquad and compete with the Okanagan Athletics U18 due to COVID restrictions currently in place.  The team is working towards the 2021 spring championship season.  Stay up to date with all things Coyote baseball on our social media platforms and website, www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca

Coyotes Week Wrap http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2445 http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2445#respond Mon, 05 Oct 2020 18:44:12 +0000 http://www.okanagancollegebaseball.ca/?p=2445 The Yotes have been busy this fall, playing games on a daily basis. This week was no different as we continued to play intersquad games as well as games against the Okanagan Athletics. As we get closer to the Fall World Series, some of the Yotes are trying to prove why they should not be slept on.

The pitchers continue to improve from the start of the fall and there are many guys that have pitched really well as of late. Freshman, Gavin Wuschke, pounded the strike zone with everything he had in 4 innings of work against the Athletics. He showed a great two seam fastball that was paired with a nasty curveball. Senior, Brett Reid, continues to show why he should be relied upon come seasons time. In his three innings of work he was able to strikeout five consecutive batters, showing off excellent control and movement on his pitches. Senior, Aiden Mordecai, also flashes quality stuff, with his electric fastball and devastating changeup. He was able to work 4 quality innings in the intersquad. Other notable performances include Quin Gorchinski, Justin Misfledt, and Jesse Poniewozik.

The hitters have done quite well this fall, even with limited swings. Freshman, Brendan Evans, has shown to be a quality piece in the lineup because of his ability to spray line drives all over the field. Senior, Jake Fischer, and Junior, Nolan King, showed off their power this week by launching homeruns just an inning apart. These two continue to be forces in the middle of the lineup. Freshman, Anthony Wyslobocki, continues to be a pest at the plate with his ability to have good at bats and drive the ball into the gaps consistently. Other notable performances from this week include Logan Campbell, Hayden Misfeldt and Kaden Dore.

The Fall World Series will take place over the next two weeks consisting of three teams. Team Black, Team Red and Team White all look to compete over the course of the next couple weeks in order to be crowned champion.
