On Saturday April 13th, The Okanagan College Coyotes will be hosting the Vancouver Island University Mariners for a double header, which will also be Student Appreciation Day at Elks Stadium.
The first 400 people with paid admission will get one free Hot Dog at the games.
The Coyotes will play host to the Mariners this weekend and it will be an opportunity for the Coyotes to close the gap on the first place TRU Wolfpack. The Mariners have always given the Coyotes trouble so this weekend should be an exciting one.
Starting on the mound for the Coyotes on Saturday will be Senior Trevor Brigden (3-0, 1.05 ERA, 29 SO) and Freshman Nick Lee (9.79 ERA, 12 SO). On Sunday the Coyotes will send Sophomores Chris Wyslobocki (1-0, 1.80 ERA, 20 SO) and Jesse Poniewozik (1-0, 2.70 ERA, 17 SO) to the mound. The OC pitching staff will look to stay dominate as they lead the league in ERA at 1.82 and strikeouts at 133 in 109 innings.
The OC offense will look to improve on what has been an average start to the year and hope to give the pitching staff some much needed run support. Senior Jake Fischer is tied for the league lead in RBI with 12 and is second in homeruns with 3. Senior Davis Todosichuk leads the Coyotes in batting average at .385 and sits 4th in the league. Senior Jeremy Buckley has been on a hot streak as he was 5-15 with 4 doubles, a triple and 7 RBI in their last series.
First game on Saturday starts at 3pm and the second to follow 30 minutes after the completion of the first game.
