After 2 weeks of play your Okanagan College Coyotes sit a top the CCBC standings. With a 7-1 record. The Coyotes have 5 players hitting above .350 this season, with McCoy Pearce leading the way with an impressive .485 average. Over the weekend, the Coyotes won 3 of 4 games against the VIU Mariners. After falling behind late in game 1, the Coyotes were unable to recover losing 8-4.
Game 2 was a much better for the Coyotes, led by Sr. Brett Reid (Exeter, ON) and Jr. Sean Dunn (Fort McMurray, AB) on the mound the Coyotes took game 2 11-6. On the offensive side Sr. Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sk) paced the offence going 2-3 with 4 RBI.
In game 3 the Coyotes got out to a quick 5-0 lead, scoring all 5 runs in the first 4 innings. Sr. Jayden Clayton ( North Vancouver, BC) went 6 strong innings eventually exiting with a 5-3 lead. The Mariners would score another in the 8th before eventually being shutdown by Fr. Gavin Wuschke (Regina, Sk) who earned his first career CCBC save. The offence had 8 hits and took advantage of 4 VIU errors to capture the win.
The final game of the matchup had So. Adam Sarafinchan (Kelowna, BC) continue his strong start to the 2022 campaign. Sarafinchan went 6 innings giving up 3 earned runs and striking out 11. Sr. Connor Robbins (Calgary, AB) and Fr. Cory Lawson (Calgary, AB) would finish the game on the mound for the Coyotes. Sr. Brendan Luther (Toronto, ON) tallied 3 hits and Fr. Adrian Orioli had 3 RBI to help secure the Coyotes to an 11-5 win.
