The Coyotes travelled to VIBI in Nanaimo, BC over the weekend and came out with a split.
Game 1 saw Mike Monster pick up his first as a starter after he fired a complete game 2 hitter allowing 1 run. The Coyotes rallied late in the game to scoring 3 runs in the top of the 7th to give VIBI starter Cody Chartrand a loss. Jeff Bouchard was 2-4, while Greg Adams was 1-3.
Game 2 had Marcus Drewry get strapped with a complete game loss where he only surrendered two runs. The Coyotes offense was shut down by left handed pitch Mike Williams of VIBI holding the Coyotes to only 6 hits. Bryan Elias was 3-3, while Matt Sanderson was 1-2 with a walk.
Game 3 on the weekend had Keifer Rodway fall to VIBI 5-1. Rodway fell victim to some poor defensive play behind him that led to unearned runs late in the game. He would scatter 10 hits over 8 innings worked. VIBI starter Connor Russell held the Coyotes to just 6 hits while striking out 10. Bryan Elias, Aidan McVea and Greg Adams each had hits.
Game 4 saw the Coyotes offense breakout. The Coyotes salvaged the weekend with a 17-7 route of the Mariners. Zach Burlon was tough on the mound, he had a no hitter going through 6 innings before Liam Goodall broke the effort in the 7th. VIBI pitchers walked 12 and hit 8, the Coyotes had some timely hits that broke the game open. Tyler Pentland had a bases loaded double to start a 7 run 4th inning. Greg Adams also had a bases loaded double in the 6th inning to put the game out of reach. Greg Adams was 3-5, while Aidan McVea was 3-4. David Mabon was walked 5 times and scored 3 runs.
